Introduction

It is that time of year again, children are excited, wishes are being made and parents are wondering, “How will I get my little one to fall asleep on Christmas Eve?”. So why not have a read of this short warm and cosy tale; a perfect story for children from age 2-5 on Christmas Eve.

My Thoughts

The scene is set on Christmas Eve. Four bunnies excitedly anticipate the arrival of Father Christmas. As the bunnies hang up their Christmas stockings, they make a Christmas wish and head to bed. However, Peter, the biggest of the bunnies, worries. The problem is Father Christmas only comes when all the little bunnies are asleep, but Peter worries, “What if I can’t fall asleep?”

This delightful tale is short and to the point, with supporting illustrations to help young children comprehend the story’s message. The soft pastel colours of the picturebook add context to the warmth of the written story.

The strength of this book is in its simplicity and gentle message. This is a bedtime story to be shared with young children in the days coming up to Christmas.
